TIPS ABOUT USING OUR SAFTEY BOATS at HBSC

Saturday the 2nd of May starting at 0930
Laurie, Allan and Tony will be running a one-day session and Adrian has kindly offered to assist, on Herne Bay Sailing Club related Safety boat Helming and crewing issues and techniques. It is for all club members who are or wish to obtain or improve their skills in areas such as: -
When to intervene if a dinghy or crew is in any difficulty, could be a capsize or equipment failure.
How to approach and make initial contact. Including if on the beach.
How to and when to assist. Recover persons from the water, righting boats, etc.
Towing; alongside or behind, preparation of dinghy, use of towline.
Also, we aim to cover buoy positioning and laying.
Communications, by VHF and with others.
Plus, other items if time.
The day is open to all members, at no cost.
If you wish to be involved, please bring appropriate gear, or you wish you can just observe from the shore.
There will be dinghies ashore with crews explaining the best methods of assisting in their particular boats.
One of us will also be ashore explain various aspects or answering any of your questions.
