Welcome to edition 11, the regular round-up of useful information.

Sailing This Weekend

There is sailing on Saturday and Sunday. Link to sailing calendar: https://members.hernebaysailingclub.co.uk/events

This weekend there is a 2-day sailing course on Saturday and Sunday for those who have pre-booked. Our galley co-ordinator has kindly left some rolls and fillings if anyone needs lunch. There is milk in the fridge for teas and coffees, for self-service.

Sunday: 10am start scheduled Early Summer 7 / Long distance race. Race officer, safety boat crew needed please, sign up on SCM.

Also on Sunday, New Members Meet: As per email this week, it will be great to see as many members as possible on Sunday either out on the water or joining in with the New Members meet (11am 1 pm) The weather is looking glorious so let's enjoy the best beach hut in town! Bill will be running the bar for refreshments after sailing (and any scones left over from the cream tea.)

New Members

A very warm welcome to new members Marian, Rob, Orla, Phoebe and Finn.

2000 Open Event

On 3rd and 4th June, our club is hosting an Open Weekend for the 2000 fleet (https://www.2000class.org/). Link to club website with notice of race, timings, and to enter the event: https://members.hernebaysailingclub.co.uk/2023-millennium-series/2023-millenium-series-herne-bay-sailing-club-3rd-4th-june Entries are now open! This is novice friendly. This is not a National Competition HBSC is hosting this sailing event that is part of the millennium series that the class association runs. This is a great introduction to racing. Tag along and follow the fleet round. Please help us to get as many 2000's on the water as possible.

Duty slots are still available on SCM especially beach master and galley please help us to make this a great event!

Friday night bar

Now that we are moving towards warmer weather and light evenings, we are encouraging the bar to be open on Friday evenings. If you would like to run the bar, please sign up on SCM. If you have not done this before but would like to, please contact David Hogben on WhatsApp or via commodore@hernebaysailingclub.co.uk to get your fob activated and for a brief induction.

Maintenance

Reminder that the footpath replacement works behind the sailing club will start next week. Access won't be possible via the path to the rear entrance for 2 weeks while the works are in progress. Emergency evacuation from the club via the back door will not be affected.

Push the Boat Out Day 24th June

We are holding an open day for our members on Saturday 24th June afternoon of on the water fun followed a BBQ. Please save the date details will be published at the next bulletin.
