Revised Sailing Instructions
Please see attached updated Sailing Instructions that will take place with immediate effect. Any questions, please get in touch with Russell.
Friday Night Bar
The bar will be open tonight and every Friday evening through the season :)
Galley update
Dear members, Unfortunately due to the increase in utility bills and costs, the prices in the galley will have a small increase, but we aim to keep these as low as possible. Thank you. If you are able to carry out a duty slot for the galley just once this year this will help to spread the load. No training required, and if you are unsure, please contact Simone who will talk you through.
Club boats
We are rationalising the fleet of club boats based on experience of usage .
The Wayfarer, the Q'bas and Teras are being taken out of commission. The Fleet of Toppers has increased to 4, 4 Optibats are also available to Cadets and the 5 Fevas are retained as a 2 person dinghy for Cadets or single-handed adults. The 2 Visions are retained with the 2000 as two-handed adult dinghies and the Laser for single-handed adults.
This configuration will meet our current needs and will reduce the maintenance burden and insurance costs.
Beaufort Wind Scale
Following discussion on the HBSC WhatsApp chat, here are some YouTube videos about the Beaufort Wind Scale: what that looks like on the sea: Beaufort scale (youtube.com); Water Beaufort 0-12 - UNIGINE Sim 2.2 (youtube.com)
Volunteering
Directors have considered the volunteering position and follow-ups will be made where it is perceived that members have not yet rostered themselves. Please go to the Club website and go to" Calendar" where you will be able to select suitable dates for future events.
As a volunteer club we stand or fall on our communal work ethic.
Many thanks to all those who have gone the extra mile for us already.

" A very thank you to all the volunteers over the weekend, lovely to see the club in full swing. We are going to hold some evening events for new members soon, so they can learn about membership and what they are looking to get out of the club.
All members who compete volunteering will get a raffle ticket for each slot completed, which will go into an end of year raffle. The more you do, the better odds you have of winning.
Enjoy your sailing this weekend, I am off to north France and the Channel Islands sailing, see you all soon."
Kind regards Peter
WhatsApp groups
There are a number of WhatsApp groups that members can join. They are not a formal means of communication but nonetheless, very useful to share interests and chit-chat.
Sailing related chat: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GxkS5XCSChm75tiun3969K
Female Participation: This aim of this group is for female members to mutually support each other and to encourage participation in club on the water activities and volunteering/duties. https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ki783uVEAJPBz7AzELtgWH. This is a very new group and we hope that the people who would like to participate will shape and evolve the group as required.
