Volunteering and Helpers
I know I say it each week.thank you to all the volunteers and helpers that make our club run smoothly.last weekend saw so many different levels on the water in the sun shine.
The weekend ahead and next weeks "club week" I know there has been a lot of preparation and planning ahead. It's going to be bigger, better and frankly brilliant. If you want to get involved please book in, the program looks amazing..I know I will be there. Peter"

Ian Moore has set up a new spangly method for cadet parents to book their young person in for each day of club week. The booking system is also in place for this Saturday afternoon. To book, the events are all on the normal calendar and the bookings can be made after logging in, in much the same way as clicking to volunteer https://members.hernebaysailingclub.co.uk/events
Cruise Thursday 8th August
Hi all,
Here is my plan for the cruise on Thursday of club week.
Given tides (Low at 9.30, High at 15.40) we will be sailing to Tankerton sailing club for a picnic lunch and maybe an ice cream?
I suggest fleet goes a float at 10.30 with a departure for 11.00.
I would like to plan to have all safety boats on the water, we can adjust for number of boats. I will helm one but we need volunteers for the others. Werner will avoid having passengers in safety boats. Given the direction of travel we have safe beaches to ditch on all the way. The only major obstacle is the rocks at Hampton pier.
Participation is open to all and I would ask that the cruise is advertised in this weeks newsletter, asking for as many double handers as possible.
Cadets sailing. We will decide on this once the weather forecast is firmed up and based on sailing ability as assessed during the early part of club week.
Cheers
Ben Gardner

AGM 8th September 5pm
Nominations for posts to go forward to the AGM on Sept 8th
You are invited to come forward to help support the club for next year.
All posts are filled for a one year period.
Some people have offered to continue in their existing roles but you are welcome to apply for any of them. We do not usually have competition for posts but it is quite legitimate to press your case if you desire to develop the club in a particular way.
I have attached a spreadsheet showing the roles available but for convenience I summarise the areas where there are currently known gaps and for which we will be very grateful if you could step up. Without members there is no club, without volunteers we cannot function.
If you would like to help but do not know how best to use your talents call me on07443115925 or talk to one of the experienced members.
Our known gaps that need filling are as follows:
Commodore
Sailing Secretary
Vice Commodore
Secretary
Rear Commodore - Maintenance
Health and Safety Officer
Galley CoOrdinator
Social Events CoOrdinator
Sailing Committee member
Development Committee Member
Safety Boat Team
First Aid Box checker
Galley Team
Social Team
If you can spare a little time, jobs can be split down and shared. Every little helps. Together
we are an Ocean.

WhatsApp groups
There are a number of WhatsApp groups that members can join. They are not a formal means of communication but nonetheless, very useful to share interests and chit-chat.
Sailing related chat: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GxkS5XCSChm75tiun3969K
Female Participation: This aim of this group is for female members to mutually support each other and to encourage participation in club on the water activities and volunteering/duties. https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ki783uVEAJPBz7AzELtgWH. This is a very new group and we hope that the people who would like to participate will shape and evolve the group as required.
