Herne Bay Sailing Club Hosts Kent Deaf Children Society for a Fun-filled Open Day of Inclusion on the Water

Herne Bay Sailing Club proudly welcomed the Kent Deaf Children Society for a memorable open day of aquatic adventures in July 2023, showcasing the club's commitment to inclusivity. Despite challenging weather conditions, the event was a resounding success, leaving children and families with beaming smiles and cherished memories.
The open day, held on Saturday 15th July, saw eight families from the Kent Deaf Children Society gather at Herne Bay Sailing Club for a day filled with excitement and water-based activities. While the windy conditions posed a minor challenge, the indomitable spirit of the club's volunteers ensured that all participants had a fantastic time.
Throughout the day, the children were treated to thrilling water activities, including paddleboarding, kayaking, and exhilarating Powerboat rides. The enthusiastic support of the club's volunteers made it possible for every child to experience the joys of being out on the water, regardless of their hearing abilities.
Ladi Ajayi, the renowned adventurer and personality known for his participation in "Race Across the World," joined the event, adding to the excitement and spreading the message of inclusion. After the day's events, Ladi Ajayi expressed his admiration on Instagram, saying, "I spent some of the weekend at Herne Bay Sailing Club during their hearing impaired family day. What a great event lead by brilliant club volunteers. This is inclusion."
