Return to Sailing

Published 08:02 on 11 Jul 2020

Herne Bay Sailing Club is pleased to let members know that the C19 group has agreed the use of Tango by approved PB crews for supervised recreational sailing.

On the days when there is supervised recreational sailing, there will be an Officer of the Day responsible for deciding whether the conditions are suitable and manageable and ensuring the relevant procedures are followed.

Please look out for an email from the sailing committee explaining how to volunteer for OoD or PB helm/crew through the club portal.

We understand that not all members of the powerboat team may wish to volunteer this year, and some may be shielding or in a shielded household. PB personnel will need to attend a short safety briefing to cover covid-related procedures, ensure they are aware of and comfortable with their responsibilities and to answer any questions. If you would like to know more, please get in touch (claredunning@gmail.com).

Independent buddy sailing/kayaking may still occur outside of the advertised supervised recreational sailing times, subject to the sailing conditions being within the limits in the Safe Sailing document.

The appended Safe Sailing at HBSC document has been revised accordingly. Please read it carefully.

The RYA is seeking advice and clarification from the government as to when organised activity (club racing, training, improvers, cadets etc) may restart, and when clubhouses and changing rooms may open.
