A busy weekend at the sailing club saw Laurie Dengate run an Instructors course at Westbere Lake On Friday, on Saturday, Richard De Lisle run a new members training course at the sailing club and Alan Mcneil ran a safety boat refresher course, also at the sailing club. Thanks to Laurie we have another 4 Instructors at the club once all the paper work has been sorted. They are Darren Moore, Ian Moore, Russell Kyte, and Lester Warwick. Well done lads!

During the reshresher safety boat course Allan brought along "Dead Fred" his 16 stone (when fully wet)dummy so that the participants could actually recover the equivalent of a heavy human from the water. Everyone on the course passed with flying colours, and "Dead Fred" survived to live another day if you get my meaning.

Racing on Sunday was the annual "Long Distance Race" the Trophy being the wonderful old wooden carved dogs head tiller, known as the "Long Dog".Dai Griffiths, the Race Officer set a north east beat followed by a reach out to sea and a fetch back to the finish line. The Dyer boys, Sam and Michael in their 29er sailed a flawless race to win the trophy.

Steve and Jane Lee travelled all the way from Canada to run the Club Bar, there is no extreme that some club members will go to ensure that things run like a well oiled machine. Thank you competitors, trainees and volunteers for a great weekend at the club.
