Coming Up - This weekend...

Friday 18th - "Changing of the Guard"

The bar is open from 19:00 on Friday evening, an opportunity to meet the new team and raise a glass in thanks to all Officers of the Club - departing, continuing and new!

Under Viv & Tony's stewardship, the strategy, already well underway by Linda in the galley, will be to increase Club revenue by raising social engagement. Higher turnover on lower prices, and lots of fun, food-themed get-togethers... so look out for special offers, discount prices and lots of opportunities to support your Club just by joining in.

Saturday 19th - Cadets and Improvers - Special Racing Session

Five of our Cadets had never raced before the St George's Cup, and it was their first racing experience - they all loved it!

So, while the enthusiasm is still fresh, we're putting on an extra Cadet session this Saturday aimed at racing skills and will be inviting Improvers to join in too.

Arrive at 13:00 to rig, ready for a 14:00 race start on the water.

Sunday 20th - Autumn Series

Autumn Series racing continues on Sunday, with racing and Open Sailing from 14:00.

Last weekend...

St George's Cup

36 boats from Herne Bay, Tankerton and Hampton Pier took part in the St George's Cup. Force 4 winds and three-foot waves made for some exciting and challenging racing for experienced sailors, novices and cadets alike.

We narrowly lost the St George's Cup to Tankerton by just one point, but congratulations go to Michael and Sam in the 2000, who were the overall winning boat with two wins from two races. Brian and Maria, also in a 2000, finished joint second, with Allan McNeil in sixth place.

We're looking to develop the collaboration between the three clubs further, with Tankerton hosting the racing next year.

AGM 2026

Thanks to everyone who came along to the AGM on Sunday, and particularly to those who have volunteered to help run the Club over the coming year.

Graham Harbord was elected Commodore, with Ian Moore as Vice Commodore, Penny Bramwell continuing as Honorary Secretary, Tim Hughes as Honorary Treasurer and Justin Tuck as Membership Secretary.

A big thank you also goes to Linda, who continues to look after the galley and does a brilliant job promoting Club events! Viv and Tony have kindly agreed to take on the bar from Jenni and Dave, who were thanked for their extraordinary contribution.

The bar and galley are an important part of Club life, socially as well as financially, and we're very grateful to everyone who helps keep them running.

The Club accounts and proposed membership structure and fees for 2027 were approved. Tim's financial report highlighted the increasing costs of running the Club and the need to grow income through membership, sailing events and other activities.

There are still opportunities for anyone who would like to get involved, so please speak to one of the team if you can help.
