Sailing this weekend

Link to calendar is here: https://members.hernebaysailingclub.co.uk/events

Saturday 15th June

Safety boat cover available all day from 10am. Cadets in the afternoon.

Sunday 16th June - fathers day

No racing but Open Sailing from 10am.

Volunteering / Duty Slots

Many thanks to all the volunteers over the past two weeks. Really positive to see some members take slots for the first time this season, thank you. Also brilliant to see some members booking ahead and planning in advance too. Fun weekend coming up, fingers crossed for some lovely weather. Peter Falcini.

Update to Cadet and Open Sailing Sessions

There are now new duty slots each Saturday afternoon for the cadet sessions and Open Sailing Sessions for on the water session lead, Officer of the Day (OOD), and Galley. To be the session lead, anyone who considers themselves as an experienced sailor who has lots of fun and enthusiasm is welcome!

Open Sailing sessions are still available on Saturday morning but without designated safety cover. However, safety cover will be available form 1pm to the session (apart from the 15th where it will be all day) end so that this co-incides with the Cadet Sessions. Note this is a trial to see the uptake and will be reviewed.

Friday Night Bar

The bar will be open tonight and every Friday evening through the season. David and Jenni are opening the bar tonight. Please sign up on SCM under the duty slots for Friday night bar for future Fridays!

Club week - Monday 5th August

We are now planning for club week. Please contact Adrian hbsc.cadets@gmail.com to let him know your availability for the week so he can collate who we have each day to then plan for the water-based activities. We are looking into raft building as one of the activities and wonder if any one has any plastic barrels that we could use for flotation.

Considering the number of Scouts / Guides we have in the club (both old and new) I think we should all be able to teach each other what knots we need to make the rafts work. Adrian Pinn, cadet co-ordinator.

WhatsApp groups

There are a number of WhatsApp groups that members can join. They are not a formal means of communication but nonetheless, very useful to share interests and chit-chat.

Sailing related chat: https://chat.whatsapp.com/GxkS5XCSChm75tiun3969K

Female Participation: This aim of this group is for female members to mutually support each other and to encourage participation in club on the water activities and volunteering/duties. https://chat.whatsapp.com/Ki783uVEAJPBz7AzELtgWH. This is a very new group and we hope that the people who would like to participate will shape and evolve the group as required.
