Welcome to edition 62 of the Bulletin, the regular communication keeping you informed of things happening at HBSC.
"Fabulous weekend of activities and thank you to all the helpers and volunteers. It was lovely to see so many people at the club/on the water enjoying themselves. Sometimes big things happen magically, well done to Carrie and Jon for scrubbing the slipway.i did notice
Next weekend is a big one, we have an opportunity to showcase our club as we have a sailing competition vs another club on Sunday called the St George's cup. So I am putting the call out for volunteers and helpers please. If you are down to watch, it's a great event to seethanks Peter"
Friday Night Bar
Friday night bar is now in full swing and will be open this Friday - Tracy is behind the bar this week and she would love to be kept busy! If you would like to run the bar, please do sign up on SCM. Please contact Dave Hogben who will ensure your fob is enabled and training arranged where appropriate.
Sail training for Adults this Saturday
We would like to apologise that the training this year has been delayed. We are now offering Level 1 and Level 2 training for beginners and also to existing members who need to finish off training. This training will be completed on Saturday afternoons alongside cadets, subject to instructor availability and weather forecasts - the next one being this Saturday 20th July.
To make this happen, we need to know in advance who is planning to attend: volunteers, instructors and participants - the cut off being Thursday 18th July evening. Please either add your name to the list on the WhatsApp group or contact Jo 07708545021.
Cadets this Saturday
Alongside the sail training we will have cadets - It was such a great vibe last week we are determined to do this again! We need to know in advance who is coming both helpers and participants so add your name to the WhatsApp list - cut off will be Thursday 18th July. This allows time to plan and sort groups to ensure the smooth running of the afternoon. We want to enable parents to feel confident too, so if you are not sure or want to chat further please do get in touch with Jo.
As per the email in the week, the club is a community and we pride ourselves in supporting each other and we are reliant on the good will of
Sunday 21st July St George's Cup
The St. George's Cup is an annual event between HBSC and HPYC. In past years this has been a 1-day event with 2 races. This year we are doing it a bit differently and we are hosting the event over 2 days - This Sunday HPYC will manage the race, and on 11th August we will reciprocate. The racing will take place off the Harbour Arm to showcase to our town how brilliant sailing is. We therefore need you all to come out in force to retain the title! Club boats can be used if you don't have your own. There is also a cadet trophy. The winning Herne Bay Boat will be the recipient of the Toucan Trophy which is also being competed for during this event. Notice of Race will be emailed later on in the week which will confirm the start time.
3rd August - Taster day
Discover Sailing/Push The Boat Out/Taster Day - Call it what you want but this is about getting new members - We have quite a few interested in sailing on this day and therefore need a team! Please will you volunteer on SCM? We are particularly interested in getting a gender balance of helms for the day, so sign up... Jonathan is organising the event, so contact him if you need any info. Details can be found here https://hernebayfestival.com/events/discover-sailing-with-free-taster-sessions/. Please add them to any social networks that you may be a part of.

Tyres
Please do not bring any more tyres to the club. There is a surplus, and the locals seem to enjoy rolling them into the sea if they are found loose!
Kayaks
Thank you to those of you who contacted membership@ to check their kayaks are registered. If you have not done so already, please do. If you have, please pick up a tag from the bar (please ensure that the number corresponds to the one on the LIST IN THE BAR). We will be going through the process of removing unidentified kayaks during club week (a month from now).
WhatsApp groups
There are a number of WhatsApp groups that members can join. They are not a formal means of communication but nonetheless, very useful to share interests and chit-chat.
