Sailing This Weekend:

Link to sailing calendar: https://members.hernebaysailingclub.co.uk/events

Saturday: Open Sailing 2pm on the water start. Cadets are out at this time too for a 1pm start please join us! The weather is looking great, why not stay on to have your tea or fire up the club BBQ

Sunday: 1200 start, Autumn 3 and 4 is back to back racing, a break for lunch, then back out for Autumn 5. Mary is in the galley for the 3rd week in a row and we will all agree that she looks after all of us really well by offering such wonderful refreshments, so even more of a reason to come on down to sail or enjoy being on the shore. Race Officer and Safety Boat helm is needed please, sign up on SCM.

Friday night bar

The bar will be open this Friday evening, the weather looks good, lets make the most of the lovely late summer evenings. Why not bring your supper and have a beer to watch the sunset

Power Boat Updates

New winches have been fitted to both Humber and Vikings trolleys. Please ensure that the painter is always secured to the trolleys during launching and recovery and NOT to the Winch.

Also Humber has temporary 3 bladed propeller fitted and needs to driven at lower speed until new propeller arrives. The previous (£120) 4 bladed propeller rubber drive bush has been damaged. Please report any damage or incident to a flag officer or Allan McNeil. Many thanks, Richard.

If have to break the blue tag seal, or find it broken on the emergency box on any of the boats, please report this to Tony Herlihy. The box can then be checked and re-sealed. Many thanks.

Power Boat Training

The next power boat course will be on Friday 22nd and Friday 29th September, 9am-5pm both days. This is a 2 day course, so attendance at both days is required. If you would like to do the next course, please sign up on the notice board in the club house or let Tony Herlihy know on 07711410051. Link to the course information is here: https://www.rya.org.uk/training/courses/level-2-powerboat-handling-pl2c . Cost is £50 bargain.

KSSA Event Saturday 7th October

HBSC are hosting Kent Schools Sailing Association training on this all day event. We are finalising what roles we need to fill, and the slots will very soon be on SCM. We will definitely need the galley to be manned all day for breakfast, lunches and afternoon refreshments, Officer of the Day, slipway co-ordinator, and power boat helms and crew. If you are able to help, please keep this date free and sign up as soon as you see the slots. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase our wonderful club and be part of the sailing community. We are expecting up to 50 boats.

We want to encourage as many of our cadets to join in on this excellent training opportunity. Registration is through KSSA, the organisers. Entry deadline is midnight Wednesday 28th September. The event page is here: https://kssa.co.uk/event/2023-autumn-training-1/ and the membership link is here: https://kssa.co.uk/membership/
