Welcome to edition 72 of the Bulletin, the regular communication keeping you informed of things happening at HBSC.

Friday Night Bar

The bar continues to be open every Friday night with a special push for end of the Month (i.e. tonight) payday drinks! Bring your friends and family down and enjoy a drink in the sailing club this Friday :)

Saturday 28th September - Improvers, Open Sailing and Cadets - booking required!

Cadets

Please arrive at 1300
- please use SCM to book in your young sailors so we can plan ahead
- It's going to be a lot cooler this weekend so you must make sure young sailors are appropriately dressed to stay warm - for example base later (rash top), wetsuit with long arms and sleeves, jacket, hat.

Wetsuits can be borrowed from the club free of charge and can be found in the sail store. Please arrive a little earlier to allow time for selecting and trying on.

The start and end of the season feel very different to summer and it's no fun being cold. Please consider investing in some warmer items such as sailing boots, sailing gloves, splash tops, thermal layers which can be found at reasonable prices in places such as Decathlon and Vinted.

We would be keen to be ensuing there is hot food and drinks available for the cadets after sailing so if you are able to help in the galley then please sign up on SCM or have a chat with Janine.

Thank you!

Improvers: You must sign up on SCM to book your place so ensure that we can resource this safely.

The galley will be open and there is going to be hot snacks available after sailing

Changing room etiquette

While we have children and young people using the changing rooms at the same time as adults please be considerate and discrete e.g. covering up with a towel when walking to the shower.

Thank you for continuing to work together to keep the club a safe place for everyone.

Sunday 29th September - 2 races 10am start

Race Officer, Assistant race officer, safety boar helm and crew needed please otherwise the racing cannot go ahead. Please sign up on SCM.

Boat Maintenance

The sailing committee have introduced a new boat maintenance reporting system. Below is the QR code for HBSC dingy maintenance group, for those who are willing to help with boat maintenance. It is also the method to report any faults with any of the club boats. There is a designated white board in the main club house for reporting faults - please write the fault on here, take a photo of it and send to the whatsApp group.

The Sailing Committee are also looking at running monthly boat maintenance sessions either on Friday evenings or on Saturdays - if interested, please join the WhatsApp group and express your interest - thank you.
